OUR HISTORY
Calvary Bible Church
In 2022, whilst Storm and Sophie lived as missionaries in western Kenya, the Lord spoke clearly to Storm's heart about the need for a church to be planted in the Dolphin Coast area of South Africa.
Storm and Sophie had previously lived in the UK, and they struggled to find a sound, Bible teaching church. They came across expository teaching for the first time at Calvary Chapel Eldoret - an American church plant in western Kenya - and they embraced it whole-heartedly. Storm was discipled by the senior pastor and the Lord stirred his heart to start teaching His Word. Storm was ordained in February 2022 and served as an assistant pastor at that church until October 2022 when Storm and his family moved to Ballito.
Our first meeting at the end of 2022.
Storm's vision is for a Church that honours God by following the original example of the Early Church in Acts 2.
The foundational elements of a bona fide biblical Church are:
- continuing in the Word (expository teaching) (Acts 2:42)
- regular fellowship (Acts 2:42)
- regular corporate prayer (Acts 2:42)
- regular communion (Acts 2:42)
- baptism (Acts 2:41)
- pastoral leadership (1 Tim. 3, Titus 1 & 1 Peter 5)
Along with this, the Early Church was characterized by a tremendous sense of community (Acts 2:44), selfless love toward one another (Acts 2:45), living with joy, sincerity, and simplicity (Acts 2:46), and corporately worshipping God together (Acts 2:47).
It is therefore the earnest desire of Storm and Sophie's hearts for a Church matching this description to be established by God on the Dolphin Coast. We long for more of the Dolphin Coast community to come to know God and the truth of His Word.
